Passion for shoes and bags
In 2004 Helena decided to turn her passion for shoes and bags into a brand.She searched for the right people to make her dream come true. She met Angelique by chance and knew instinctively that she was the woman that she wanted to make her first collection with. With the help and advice of many shoe professionals the first collection was presented that same year.
A union
The special shoe & purse line, Helena-Angelique, is a result of the cooperation between designer/stylist Inge Helena Rietjens and paintress/tattoo-artist Angelique Houtkamp. The many years of experience Inge Helena Rietjens has in fashion, styling & design, and the unique quality of Angelique Houtkamp' painting were joined in a line of products with an unmistakable unique signature.
Stylish, out-there, daring, unique, tough, classy, sexy, one of a kind and humorous are the words that first come to mind looking at the designs. Helena-Angelique is for a self confident person who stays far from any fashion dictatorship. Daring & sexy, stylish & classy, flirting with humour, they know your purse has to match with your shoes. And who ever said 'No white after Labour Day!'
Because of continues attention and demand this collection appears to be so strong and timeless that we turned it into our basic collection.
BASIC COLLECTION
The collection consists several models of shoes & purses, divided in themes with different prints. Models like a heeled slide, a mule, a pump, a lace-up boot, a high and a low western boot. The purses come in a variety of appearance and purpose. There is one for every moment of the day: a shopper, a convenient handbag, a tote-bag for all occasions and several evening purses. All themes have a different style and feel to them. The typical atmosphere in Angelique's painting brings unity in this collection.
Themes
The pseudo-dramatic Spanish Rose features the 'tattoo-rose', in Chicano-style, brought to California by Mexican emigrants. Tribal is an exiting design, inspired by tattoos that show the wearers affiliation with a certain tribe, culture or society. Most well-known in the world are the Maori and Polynesian symbols. Of course we bring you the Helena-Angelique tribal. Comically-styled cowgirl pin-ups, lasso’s, horseshoes, cactuses and the 'Lone Star' symbolize the Texas theme. Rough and rowdy with a nostalgic look reminiscent of the wild west of the 'good ol' days'.
Immediately recognizable as tattoos are the figures in our Old School series. Sultry pin-ups, broken hearts, banners, swallows, a sailing ship, a black panther and lots of other symbols that will surely make you think of an old sailor's arms.
Brand new is the collection that Helena brings.
HELENA'S COLLECTION
Silhouette
Some models of the basic collection are now presented with a silhouette theme, taking everybody back to the naughty French vibe of the early days. Tres sexy and tres burlesque. The silhouette featured as a print on this theme is actually Helena’s profile, cut out , incredibly quick by a French artist on Montmartre, Paris in 1998.
Delfts Blue
With a blink of the eye to our Dutch roots, the glory of our motherland; “Delfts Blue”. A surprising mix between traditional decoration and high fashion design. The print is featured on a bootie, a slipper and a small handbag.
Ladybug
The same models are also available in a playful Ladybug theme. A sunny print with juicy green leaves, and cheerful, cute, red ladybugs on a bright background. With a ladybug on your feet, you must be walking straight into good fortune!
